THE ARTIST
My name is Mohammed Anwar Bin Rafiee, I am a self-taught Artist/ Illustrator based in Singapore who’s always hungry for a new challenge.
It all began ( more than ) ten years ago when I won an Asia Pacific ‘Design a Hotel Room’Competition by CYX, organised by MICA in Gallery Hotel Singapore.
Since then, I have been participating in numerous competitions around the globe. One of the notable ones being the T-shirt giant,
Threadless - An ongoing online T-shirt design competition, where users submit their masterpieces for voting in hopes of having their designs printed on Threadless shirts to be made for sale.
I’m thankful and delighted to have had 10 winning designs printed to date. I've also did a several commission / collaboration works and projects throughout the years with some famous brands and individuals.-One of them is :
Anya Ayoung Chee (Project Runway Season 9 Winner) + ABLEMADE.
As an Artist, I believe that our five senses, movements and rhythms of the Universe, as well as life experiences are all encircled into one family tree we call Art.
I actually feel like I’m a Scientist wearing a Magician’s hat every day, experimenting with chemicals while making a rabbit appear from the hat; my mind, emotions and thought processes intertwine and I express how I feel through textures, colours and boldness.
It’s up to an Artist how he wants to make others see, feel and understand his Art. It’s a never-ending abstract story.
A quote by Apple that really resonates with me and encompasses me as an Artist is :
"The only thing that's changed is everything" .
Nothing is ever constant and every particle of my being reacts to these changes through my Art. It's all about building confidence with constructive criticism, awesome support and especially love and trust by family, friends and supporters throughout the years.
To sum up my work + style in 6 words : Not too dark, not too colourful.

We've been fans of Anwar's since we bought a shirt featuring one of his designs from US t-shirt website Threadless 5 years ago. The man is an incredible artist, and if you are looking for a unique artwork for your walls then Anwar's pieces may be exactly what you are looking for.

Anwar’s designs are smart, colourful, bold and witty, which is why it comes as no surprise that his works have a quite a following. His creations are often visual representations of word-play or puns making them a highly enjoyable to look at. And as if this Singapore-based artist wasn’t already talented enough, the guy is also a highly sought-after muralist!.
